While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

'Hamas: Israel persists in engineering starvation and chaos in Gaza

Tuesday 12-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement has accused the Israeli occupation of persisting in engineering starvation and chaos against more than two million people in the Gaza Strip by denying them their most basic human rights, especially their right to food.

“The Israeli occupation persists in imposing its deadly distribution system and preventing the UN and international humanitarian organizations from carrying out their essential role in safely delivering and distributing aid,” Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday.

'Hamas also said that the Israeli occupation continues to commit appalling crimes through carrying out barbaric and indiscriminate attacks on homes and tents across the Gaza Strip.

“War criminal Netanyahu insists on continuing his senseless war with no goal other than serving his political and personal interests, showing no regard for the lives or fate of his captive citizens and preferring to prolong the bloodshed to achieve his ambitions,” Hamas added.

The Movement highly valued the widespread global solidarity with Gaza, calling for stepping up such popular support until the Israeli occupation ends its war of extermination and starvation in the Gaza Strip.

27 countries and organizations, including those which provide weapons to Israel, calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

27 countries and organizations on Tuesday called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“We need a ceasefire that can end the war, for hostages to be released and aid to enter Gaza by land unhindered,” the Foreign Ministers of 26 countries said in a joint press statement.

“The humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels. Famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation. Humanitarian space must be protected, and aid should never be politicized,” they added.

They pointed out that “due to restrictive new registration requirements, essential international NGOs may be forced to leave the OPTs imminently which would worsen the humanitarian situation still further.”

They called on the Israeli occupation authorities to “provide authorization for all international NGO aid shipments and to unblock essential humanitarian actors from operating.”

They stressed that “Immediate, permanent and concrete steps must be taken to facilitate safe, large-scale access for the UN, international NGOs and humanitarian partners.”

They also stressed that “All crossings and routes must be used to allow a flood of aid into Gaza, including food, nutrition supplies, shelter, fuel, clean water, medicine and medical equipment. Lethal force must not be used at distribution sites, and civilians, humanitarians and medical workers must be protected.”

They extended their gratitude to the US, Qatar and Egypt for “their efforts in pushing for a ceasefire and pursuing peace.”

The joint statement was signed by the Foreign Ministers of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

It was also signed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, the EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean, and the EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management.

Starvation crisis in Gaza: 500 infants in hospitals as famine deepens under Israeli siege

Tuesday 12-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The director general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Muneer Al-Bursh, said on Tuesday that 500 infants are currently receiving hospital treatment due to hunger and severe malnutrition caused by Israel’s ongoing blockade and starvation policy.

Al-Bursh reported that 1,750 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip while waiting for humanitarian aid. He added that since the start of 2025, the ministry has recorded over 28,000 cases of malnutrition across the enclave under Israel’s tightened siege.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza, backed by the US, has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, involving mass killings, destruction, displacement, and deliberate starvation of Palestinians.

On March 2, Israel further intensified its restrictions by completely closing border crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid. This move has fueled a famine that health officials warn has reached “catastrophic” levels.

Over 100 Palestinian children die from the Israeli-perpetrated acute malnutrition in Gaza, UN agencies warn

NEW YORK, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

UN humanitarian organizations called for urgent action after medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the deaths of more than 100 children due to the Israeli-perpetrated malnutrition since the beginning of the war in October 2023.

Last night, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) described the child death toll exceeding 100 as "a catastrophic milestone that stains the world's reputation and calls for urgent, long-overdue action."

The World Food Programme indicated that more than 300,000 children in Gaza are at severe risk, with more than a third of the population reported going without food for days at a time.

It confirmed that meeting food needs requires more than 62,000 tons per month, while the quantities allowed to enter remain far below the minimum necessary for the survival of approximately two million people.

OCHA added that the United Nations and its partners managed to bring limited food, fuel, and supplies through the Karm Abu Salim crossing on Sunday, but the shipments were unloaded before reaching their destinations.

According to the report, the Israeli authorities allow the entry of approximately 150,000 liters of fuel per day, far less than what is required to ensure the continuation of life-saving operations. More than half of Gaza's ambulances have reportedly stopped operating due to fuel shortage and and spare parts.

The Food and Agriculture Organization warned that only 1.5 percent of the Strip's agricultural land remains suitable for agriculture, indicating a near-total collapse of the local food system.

Hind Rajab Foundation of Brussels files ICC complaint against Anas Al-Shareef’s killers

Wednesday 13-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Hind Rajab Foundation Brussels has submitted a complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the killers of Al Jazeera correspondent in Gaza, Anas Al-Shareef, his colleagues from the Al Jazeera team, and other journalists.

The foundation held six senior Israeli military commanders responsible for the killing of Al-Sharif and his colleagues, foremost among them the army’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir.

Those named also include Air Force Commander Major General Tomer Bar and Southern Command Chief Major General Yaniv Asor.

The Hind Rajab Foundation stressed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, already wanted by the ICC, stands at the top of the political chain and has encouraged the strategy of targeting journalists as part of the assault on Gaza.

On Sunday evening, Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Shareef and Mu'hammed Quraiqi' joined the list of 236 journalists killed by Israel during its brutal war on the Gaza Strip, after an Israeli strike hit Al Jazeera’s crew tent near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

The Hind Rajab Foundation was established in February 2024, headquartered in Brussels, and is dedicated to pursuing Israeli political and military officials through legal cases around the world on charges of committing war crimes against Palestinians.

The foundation is named after a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by the Israeli army along with six of her relatives when their car was bombed in southwestern Gaza City on January 29, 2024.

The Israeli occupation forces committed two massacres this morning in Khan Younus and Gaza City, killing nine civilians and wounding others.

Medical sources at Nasir Hospital in Khan Younus, south of the Gaza Strip, said that the bodies of five people and several wounded others were taken to the hospital as a result of the occupation forces' targeting of a tent in the Al-Majayda area in Khan Younus.

Two children among five dead due to starvation in Gaza

GAZA, August 6, 2025 (WAFA) –

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said on Tuesday  that five citizens, including two children, have died due to starvation and malnutrition, recorded by hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours.

Medical sources said that the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition has risen to 227, including 103 children.

It is worth noting that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies.

The severe famine is intertwined with a genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, the occupation authorities have closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, causing a famine outbreak within the Strip.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing blockade.

The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, that the deliberate blockade and delays in aid have caused many lives lost, and that nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza suffers from severe malnutrition.

Israeli shelling injures Gaza paramedic responding to emergency

GAZA, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli shelling on Monday night targeted and injured a Palestinian paramedic while on a rescue mission in Gaza City, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

It said that PRCS paramedic Dhiyaa Al-Bayouk suffered shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder from an artillery shell. He was immediately transferred to Al-Quds Hospital.

The incident occurred as Israeli forces intensively shelled the vicinity of the University College in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood.

Al-Bayouk, whose condition is reported as stable, was responding to an emergency call after a home in the area was targeted in the attack.

Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, carrying out a wave of bloody airstrikes across the Strip and killing hundreds of Palestinians.

The death toll reached at least 9,989 with 41,534 others wounded, according to medical sources. In the last 24 hours, the bodies of 69 slain Palestinians, including one retrieved from the rubble, and 362 casualties were admitted to Gaza hospitals.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since October 2023, killing 61,499 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 153,575 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafa'h near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

PPS: Disease outbreak and dire conditions put lives of 10,000 Palestinian prisoners at risk

Tuesday 12-August-2025

RAMALLAH, (PIC)

The Israeli prison administration continues to impose what rights advocates describe as systematic, abusive conditions on Palestinian prisoners, leading to widespread illness and life-threatening neglect.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), the vast majority of detainees interviewed in recent visits suffer from health problems, many of them chronic or severe.

In a briefing issued Tuesday, the PPS summarized findings from legal team visits to Israeli prisons between late July and early August 2025. Prisoners reported a rapid spread of diseases, most notably scabies, that has infected thousands and continues to spread, creating a deepening health catastrophe.

The PPS accused the prison administration of deliberately engineering conditions that strip detainees of their dignity, erode their mental resilience, and inflict long-term illnesses that are difficult to treat. It said these conditions are designed to physically and psychologically exhaust prisoners, sometimes leading to death.

The rights group classified the violations in three categories: torture, starvation, and denial of medical care, practices it says have resulted in the martyrdom of 76 prisoners since the start of the Gaza genocide, marking the bloodiest period in the history of the Palestinian prisoner movement.

While all prisoners face such abuses, the intensity varies by facility. In Gilboa prison, detainees have recently endured escalating repression, including severe beatings, electric shocks, the use of attack dogs, and further cuts to already minimal food rations. “Repression is frequent, occurring about once a week,” one prisoner said, describing routine physical assaults, electric shocks, and verbal abuse.

Ofer prison, once among the least affected, has been hit by an unprecedented scabies outbreak. Testimonies indicate that infected prisoners are deliberately housed with healthy inmates, accelerating the spread. Prisoners are forced to share the same blankets, dishes, and toilets under unsanitary conditions. Twelve inmates share a single bottle of shampoo, insufficient even for three people, and are allowed only one-minute showers, not every day.

Prisoners are also deprived of sunlight and ventilation, with some sections denied outdoor breaks for over a month under the pretext of preventing disease spread. Cells have been described as “ovens” due to extreme heat, poor air circulation, lack of clothing, and severe overcrowding.

The Negev and Megiddo prisons, both with histories of torture and prisoner deaths, continue to report cases of scabies and other undiagnosed illnesses. Female prisoners in Damon prison face similar conditions.

In the Ramla prison clinic, 22 detainees, including the wounded, kidney patients needing dialysis, and paralyzed inmates requiring constant care, are reportedly held in “tragic” conditions.

As of early August 2025, there are about 10,800 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, excluding detainees from Gaza held in Israeli occupation army-run camps. This is the highest number since the Second Intifada in 2000. Among them are 49 women, 450 children, and 3,613 administrative detainees, the highest proportion compared to convicted prisoners.

Additionally, 2,378 detainees are classified by Israel as “unlawful combatants,” not counting Gaza detainees in military camps.

Illegal Israeli settlers re-establish outpost near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers re-established a colonial outpost on the lands of the town of 'Atara, north of Ramallah, on Tuesday.

The mayor of 'Atara, Nizar El-Mughrabi, told WAFA that more than 15 colonists stormed the "Jabal El-Khirba" area at the entrance to the town on Tuesday morning, erected two tents, and brought cows and sheep and released them into the lands surrounding the outpost.

It is worth noting that "Jabal El-Khirba," which covers an area of 2,000 dunams, is an archaeological site frequented by colonists from time to time as part of a settlement policy aimed at displacing the population.

He pointed out that settlers have attempted to establish 15 new colonial outposts since the beginning of July, most of which are agricultural and pastoral.

These include five in Al-Khaleel (Hebron) Governorate, two outposts each in Salfeet, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Jericho, one in Tubas, and another in Jenin.

It is noteworthy that dozens of colonists stormed the "Jabal El-Khirba" area at the entrance to the town yesterday, accompanied by a bulldozer.

They began paving a dirt road for the area and set up tents there.

The colonists stayed there for several hours before withdrawing from the area in the evening, only to return this morning.

Illegal Israeli settlers graze their livestock on Palestinian residents' lands in Masafi Yatta

Al-Khaleel (Hebron), August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers released their livestock to graze on lands planted with seedlings and fruit trees in the Masafi Yatta area, south of Al-Khaleel (Hebron), in a new attack on Palestinian property in the southern West Bank.

Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of colonists from the illegal outpost of  Mitzpe Yair and neighboring settlement outposts, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, released their cattle onto residents lands planted with seedlings and almond and olive trees in the villages of Aqwawis, Al-Fakhit, and Al-'Halawa.

Makhamra affirmed that the colonists seized a water well owned by the Abu Aram family in the village of Aqwawis, banning residents from accessing it in an attempt to seize their land for the expansion of colonies.

Makhamra called on international and human rights organizations to intervene to halt the armed practices of the occupation and colonists and to prevent the daily attacks on defenseless citizens in Masafi Yatta.

Illegal Israeli settlers graze cattle on Palestinian farmland in northern Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers on Monday intentionally grazed their cattle on Palestinian agricultural land in the village of Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley, according to local sources.

The sources said that the colonists herded their cows on a 110-dunam watermelon-planted field belonging to Mu'hammed Sawafta.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

The settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million illegal Israeli settlers are living in colonies in the West Bank and Al-Quds (occupied Jerusalem) in violation of international law.

Israel turns two illegal West Bank outposts into new settlement neighborhoods

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission has revealed a systematic plan to transform multiple large colonial outposts around the Eli colony, built on land in the villages of Al-Sawiya, Al-Lubban, and Qaryout, into large neighborhoods affiliated with the colony.

The commission's head, Minister Mu-ayyad Sha'ban, affirmed that the occupying state had recently approved several master plans aimed at implementing massive expansions in the Eli colony as part of lager strategy to separate the central West Bank from its northern part through a colonial bloc extending between the Shilo and Eli settlements and the surrounding outposts, in the area between the Ramallah and Nablus governorates.

Sha'ban noted that last July, the occupying state submitted a master plan for the settlement, numbered (Yush/7/237), which aims to build 50 new settlement units on an area of 8.6 dunams. The plan will be located on fragmented areas of the land on which the settlement is located.

In the past few days, it approved two major plans, the first of which, numbered (Yush/5/237), covers an area of 638 dunams, with the aim of building 650 new settlement units to regularize a large settlement outpost east of Eli.

He added that in July, Israeli planning bodies reviewed 39 master plans—34 for West Bank settlements and 5 for settlements inside Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries. Of these, 22 were approved and 12 were deposited, amounting to 4,492 approved settlement units and 1,095 pending units over 5,268 dunums of Palestinian land.

In occupied Jerusalem, the municipality approved one plan and deposited four others, totaling 260 pending units on 46 dunums, with no new units approved.

Sha'ban emphasized that the occupying state is continuing to impose facts on the ground on Palestinian soil, which will fragment the Palestinian territory and impose a system of isolated enclaves to eliminate the possibility of a future Palestinian state.

He emphasized that the serious violations committed by the occupying state on the ground not only violate the capabilities and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, but also further violate international community resolutions, UN resolutions, and declared legal positions.

Palestinian Presidency condemns as “disgraceful” actions of businessman floated as Gaza governor

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Palestinian Presidency condemned on Tuesday evening the actions of a Palestinian businessman widely floated as a governor of postwar Gaza as “disgraceful”.

“Responding to statements made by Sameer 'Hulaila, in which he invoked the name of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and senior officials in connection with his disgraceful actions that circumvent the PLO and the PNA’s official position rejecting the separation of the Gaza Strip from the West Bank as part of an Israeli scheme, the Presidency condemns 'Hulaila’s statements and calls on him to stop spreading lies and attempting to cover up his shameful stance, which brings him under liability.”

The Presidency reiterated that “the Gaza Strip is an inseparable part of the State of Palestine, and that its administration is the exclusive responsibility of the PNA and the Palestinian government.”

Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomes the joint statement the FMs of 26 states on Gaza

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Palestinian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry welcomed on Tuesday the joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of 26 states on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry considered the statement as indicative of an “international consensus” on Gaza, and called on all states and international organizations to translate this consensus into practical and binding steps that would compel Israel, the occupying power, to halt its crimes against Palestinian civilians.

It also urged them to step up official international visits to the Strip accompanied by media representatives and journalists.

The ministry stressed the great importance of activating the role of the United Nations and the UN Security Council to oversee the implementation of relevant UN resolutions, and to adopt the New York Call, which suggests a wave of future recognitions of an independent Palestinian state could take place in the coming months, and implement its outcomes.

France says Gaza’s future must be part of the future Palestinian state

PARIS, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) –

France said on Tuesday that the future of Gaza must be part of the future Palestinian state, according to a statement by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported in Anadolu Agency.

“The future of the Gaza Strip must be part of a future Palestinian state led by the Palestinian Authority. France remains committed to implementing the two-state solution, the only one that can guarantee lasting peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians. This war must end now with a permanent ceasefire," the Ministry said.

The Ministry warned of a possible "disaster" and "escalation" if the Israeli government implements its military occupation plan in Gaza.

"The recent announcement by the Israeli government of a military occupation of northern Gaza, if implemented, would be a disaster and an escalation, with Israeli hostages and Gaza’s civilian population once again the first victims," the Foreign Ministry added.

It reaffirmed that France continues to support the deployment of a temporary international stabilization mission aimed at ensuring the security of both Israelis and Palestinians.

Brazilian President renews strong condemnation of Israeli military attacks in Gaza as genocide

RAMALLAH, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) -

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva renewed his country's strong condemnation of the Israeli military attacks in the Gaza Strip as genocide.

The Brazilian President also condemned the appalling humanitarian situation imposed on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the killing of thousands of innocent people, including an unacceptable number of women and children, the almost complete destruction of infrastructure, along with widespread famine, and recently, the killing of hundreds at food distribution centers.

This was stated in a letter from the Brazilian president to President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, in which he expressed his appreciation for President Abbas’s letter sent to him last month.

The Brazilian president noted that he had focused on the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, as a result of Israeli military actions during a high-level meeting with the leaders of Chile, Colombia, Spain and Uruguay, entitled “Democracy Forever,” held in the capital Santiago, which addressed the difficult ordeal and grave suffering of the Palestinian people.

He said that Brazil, in close cooperation with international partners, is making concerted efforts to enhance the necessary political mobilization to reach a comprehensive ceasefire, leading to the end of these atrocities, the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the release of the hostages, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.

The Brazilian president stressed that peace in the Middle East depends on the effective implementation of the two-state solution, in line with international law, leading to the establishment of a viable independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in security and peace, within borders that include the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed that the ability of the Palestinian government to provide public services to its people, requires lifting Israel’s financial blockade on Palestinian tax revenues, which constitutes a violation of international law, in particular the Paris Protocol on Economic Relation of 1944.

He reiterated Brazil's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, and affirmed Brazil's firm commitment to the realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to self-determination.

US doctor describes ‘deliberate cruelty’ in Gaza, calls Israel’s actions genocide

Tuesday 12-August-2025

NEW YORK, (PIC)

An American pediatrician and board member of Doctors Without Borders USA has given a harrowing account of the humanitarian and medical catastrophe in Gaza, describing it as a genocide in which Israel “deliberately uses cruelty and evil.”

In a blog post titled Humans of New York, Dr. Aqsa Durrani recounted her two-month humanitarian mission in Gaza, where she witnessed not only relentless Israeli bombardment but also what she described as a suffocating starvation campaign that targeted everyone, including medical workers.

She said the Israeli occupation forces imposed severe restrictions even on humanitarian staff, allowing her to bring in no more than seven pounds of food. “I’m a humanitarian doctor, why is there even a food limit? I’ve worked in places with extreme hunger, but in Gaza, Israel’s cruelty and malice are intentional,” she said.

“As a pediatric intensive care doctor, I am used to seeing children die as part of my work, but I have no words for what I saw in Gaza,” Durrani continued. She described treating children with missing limbs, severe burns, and other injuries, often without pain medication. “But the children don’t scream from the pain,” she said. “They scream: I’m hungry! I’m hungry!”

Durrani also spoke of the doctors and nurses working alongside her, many of them exhausted, malnourished, and living in tents, some having lost 15 or 20 family members.

She said she felt a deep sadness and an urge to stay when her mission ended, an emotion she had not experienced in nearly 20 years of humanitarian work. “I was ashamed as an American and as a human being that we could not stop this genocide,” she said.

Recalling her departure from southern Gaza, she described seeing Rafa'h reduced to rubble, then crossing into Israel where “life seemed normal.”

“The first thing I saw was a group of Israeli soldiers at a table eating lunch,” she said. “I’ve never felt more nauseated in my life than when I saw that table full of food.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US backing, has carried out a genocide in Gaza involving mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, defying international appeals and International Court of Justice orders to halt its actions.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the genocide has killed 61,499 Palestinians, wounded 153,575, left more than 9,000 missing, and displaced hundreds of thousands. The siege has triggered famine, claiming the lives of many, including dozens of children.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
